Beginner Arborist Rope Splicing

Beginner Arborist Rope Splicing
Instructor – Mark Przekurat
April 4-5, 2024

Class runs from 8am-10pm each day

This two-day course allows students to dis-assemble manufacturer ropes, learn the technology that goes into the rope, understanding it’s limits, benefits and characteristics allows an arborist to choose a rope that is best for their needs in different situations.   Exposure to the guts of a particular rope creates an understanding attendees ‘feel’ toward the product. Attendees learn the vocabulary during the workshop and gain confidence to educate their peers and coworkers regarding safe work practices while using ropes.

What do students get when attending a Fids & Fibers 2-day beginner workshop?

  • 30+ pages of handouts regarding technical aspects of arborist ropes, including splicing recipes
  • 28 hours of hands on instruction, tips, tricks and techniques. Providing a deeper understanding than simple instruction.
  • Personal attention to specific questions
  • Exposure to the culture of rope splicing.  Integrity, honesty, truth, strength, patience, quality, apprenticeship, pride & community… are just at the surface.
  • All rope used in the course is provided.  Often as many as 10 useful products are made during the 2-day workshop.
  • Hardware package to include lanyard snaps, locking biners, small, medium & Large rigging rings, aluminum or steel rings for friction savers and more on occasion.
  • Discounted rope splicing tool kits, containing everything to complete the course and beyond.
  • 20 ISA CEUs & 20 TCIA CTSP credits
  • Networking with other arborists that forge life long friendships.
  • Access to the Fids&Fibers annual rope splicing retreat held in February of each year.
  • Access to the Fids&Fibers Qualified Splicer Program.
