NOTE: Class runs from 8am-10pm each day
This two-day course allows students to dis-assemble manufacturer ropes, learn the technology that goes into the rope, understanding it’s limits, benefits and characteristics allows an arborist to choose a rope that is best for their needs in different situations. Exposure to the guts of a particular rope creates an understanding attendees ‘feel’ toward the product. Attendees learn the vocabulary during the workshop and gain confidence to educate their peers and coworkers regarding safe work practices while using ropes.
What do students get when attending a Fids & Fibers 2-day beginner workshop?
- 30+ pages of handouts regarding technical aspects of arborist ropes, including splicing recipes
- 28 hours of hands on instruction, tips, tricks and techniques. Providing a deeper understanding than simple instruction.

- Access to the Fids&Fibers annual rope splicing retreat held in February of each year.

Lodging: Attendees may choose to stay overnight at Guardian Tree Experts facility. Lodging includes shared floor space in a private office or outside tenting in the wooded area on the property. A shower and bathroom are available on the property. Attendees must bring their own supplies and equipment for sleeping at the facility.

Cost: This course is a flat rate offered through ISA Michigan. Costs are as follows:
$750 - Registration for Beginning Arborist Rope Splicing ONLY
$825 - Registration for Beginning Arborist Rope Splicing + Lodging Onsite
Important Note: all attendees may need to take a free Covid 19 test 3 days prior to arriving and on the day of arrival based on Michigan’s Covid numbers. This is a very intimate course from a space perspective being really close to the attendees to guide them on proper hand positions for splicing rope, watching the instructor demonstrate certain techniques, etc. More details will be announced at the end of March.
